For this week’s 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups, we were asked to write something with the following words in it: LIBERTY EMPIRE APPLE YELLOW ENORMOUS
This is my attempt.

For My Love
I just want the liberty to live my life with my love.
With this thought she looked at the apple on the tray before her.
She was burdened with the enormous responsibility of marrying without love for the future of the empire.
I would rather die than betray my love, she thought.
With determination and sadness she picked up, took a bite out of and chewed the fruit. She squeezed her eyes shut and as tears fell down her cheeks, swallowed hard.
A few minutes later, the yellow light from the candle cast a glow on her lifeless form.

Very nice and yet sad. You got the prompts in there nicely, very enjoyable to read.
Thank you Siv.
Lovely, yet sad x
I should tell you what your story did to my brain. (don’t be scared lol) I first thought of my favorite novel, Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, then my mind went to Camelot and King Arthur’s court, and the arranged marriages for land, wealth, political affiliation. Then I began thinking about the poor women out there, even today, that are being subjected to arranged marriages. I think it’s sad that there are women out there right now, who may just be taking that bite of the apple. See what I mean? I guess I could say then that your piece is provocative.
Wow! Interesting that you thought of all that. This post was written with such an era in mind, the era of Camelot and Arthur, that is. Nice to know the post provoked some deep thought about the issue. Thanks
Tragic end to this piece; why was she so trapped? Great writing.
Thanks.
How sad she felt she had no option but to take her own life.
Amazing babes. Amazing. Lovely mind my girls got. (Simi – don’t blow my cover) :p
Don’t worry, this is on the hush-hush. Your secret is safe with me. Thanks mami! 😀
