While browsing the web, in my quest for inspiration, I stumbled upon the 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups.
This week’s prompt was this ….I’m exhausted. Shut the door behind you….
This is my attempt.

Cheater
The door opened and he backed in, while blowing a kiss to the woman in the car outside.
The huge grin on his face disappeared as he turned into the house and saw her.
She gave him a look that spoke volumes, then she sighed deeply and said in a shaky voice, “I’m exhausted. Shut the door behind you and come take a seat.”
When he was seated she said, “Ade, we need to talk.”
He looked from her face to the papers on the table in front of her and knew he had blown it.
She would never forgive him.
It was over between them.
Great piece of writing. I love that so much of the story is told by what *isn’t* said.
Thanks Sally-Jane! I love yours too (Laugh Don’t Cry), can’t wait for what you come up with for the challenge.
Very good. No worming his way out of this one!
Yep, no worming allowed! 😀
And rightly so! She sounded so calm….I’d have been heading for the kitchen to get the rolling pin! A great piece of writing which clearly portrayed the two characters.
Hahaha! I completely agree with you about the rolling pin! Thanks for you thoughts on this piece.
Uh oh, she’s been to a lawyer already – stupid man.
This has a great twist to it with the scene you’ve set. I love how she is so calm & has everything prepared. Serves him right me thinks!!
Rumbled! Idiot! She’s probably exhausted just following him around If only he’d respected his wife for the sleuth she obviously is and hadn’t been so reckless … he’d have been a bit more careful 😉
Those are divorce papers, right? Nice one, and a well deserved come uppance for him.
Turn of emotions is well done! He’s got a few of them roaming through his thoughts, I’m sure. Too bad, though, not where anyone wants to go…
Ooops! You play, you pay. Nice job.
Thanks
Rich with realism – sadly so true for so many women (and a few men I imagine).
in Nigerian english “hehehe….God don catch you”. I feel sorry for him though.
